Smiling Future @ SIBM Bangalore

 Bangalore (Karnataka) - July 30, 2011

If you're an underdog, mentally disabled, physically disabled, if you don't fit in, if you're not as pretty as the others, you can still be a hero.
-- Steve Guttenberg

On 30th July, when SIBM Bangalore was celebrating SAMAAGAM – the alumni meet, it was a time for few children to be that real hero. These differently-able and under privileged children, became the champions with their performances which mesmerized the spectators.

Smiling Future, an initiative by SIBM Bangalore and Youth United - an NGO to provide a platform to a number of under-privileged kids from across the city to showcase their talent in dance and music, took place at SIBM Bangalore, in front of the students and the much coveted alumni of SIBM B who have achieved significant positions in the corporate world.

While there were songs which had the innocence and emotions of those children, there were dance performances which enthralled everyone. The way visually challenged children took the measurement of the stage and danced on the edges and the way the physically challenged children performed defying all the physical and mental inhibitions, was heartening and emotional.

It was a time to think what these children were of capable of, which even a normal person cannot, despite of all those struggles they have been braving throughout their life. All that they need is the attention and the resources and the recognition which they have been deprived of.

The spectators, especially the alumni of SIBM B responded whole heartedly with their generous donations to bring a smile on the faces of these children.
The social responsibility Committee of SIBM B is proud of bringing these talents forward, supporting their cause and intends to work further with the NGOs towards making such under privileged and sidelined people a part of the society.
