Inauguration 2010-12 batch @ SIBM Bangalore


Bangalore (Karnataka) - June 16, 2010

The inauguration of the 3rd batch of SIBM Bangalore (2010 -12) was held today at the college auditorium. The event was graced by many luminaries from various industries. The Chief Guest for the event was the well-known and highly respected entrepreneur Dr. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Chairman and Managing Director, Biocon.

The Guests of Honour also included some very prominent personalities like Mr. Abhijit Bhaduri, Chief Learning Officer, Wipro, who is an alumnus of XLRI and the author of the best seller books - Mediocre But Arrogant and Married but Available; Mr. Rajeev Karwal, Founder and CEO Milagrow, who is credited with bringing LG to India in 1997; and Mr. Ramanujam Shridhar, CEO, BrandComm, who is a well-known face in the advertising, brand consulting and PR circles.

Prof. Pankaj Gupta, Director, SIBM Bangalore flagged off the event. In his Welcome Address to the new batch, Prof. Gupta impressed upon the students the need to maintain a balancing act, and to utilize their coming two years at SIBM Bangalore to the fullest.

This was followed by a Presidential Speech by Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, Founder Director, Symbiosis. Dr. Mujumdar is a distinguished academician and educationist who was awarded the prestigious ‘Padamshree’ by the President of India in 2005. In his speech, he congratulated the new students on making it to one of the most promising new B-schools in the country, and advised them to imbibe qualities like time-management, innovation, passion and compassion during the coming two years. These, Dr. Mujumdar said, will be the key to their success at SIBM Bangalore.

The Chief Guest for the event, Dr. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, in her highly motivating speech shared her insights and experience on the topics of ethics in business and entrepreneurship. Dr. Kiran conveyed to the students the need of nurturing an entrepreneurial spirit in this dynamically changing environment. She advised the students to develop a strong sense of sharing and purpose, to empower themselves and others, and to not only take risks but also manage them. She spoke at length about the importance of business ethics, of team spirit, and of adding value to knowledge by being innovative. She concluded by reiterating how crucial the coming two years are for every student, and to make full use of the opportunities presented to them at SIBM Bangalore.

Mr. Abhijit Bhaduri in his address laid great stress on the importance of being exceptional in all endeavours, doing things differently, and rising above mediocrity. The highly creative and charismatic speaker Mr. Ramanujam through his presentation guided the new batch to think differently, remain focused and maintain a positive attitude. The last guest speaker, Mr. Rajeev Karwal imparted some very valuable and practical knowledge to the future managers, and advised all the students to invest in themselves and to try to become consistent performers.

The event saw the outstanding students of SIBM Bangalore receiving awards for their various meaningful contributions to the college. The investiture of the new Student Council also took place, wherein the newly formed committees were sworn in.
