Samaagam 2014: A Retreat into Reminiscence

Bangalore, Karnataka, August 23, 2014: Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), Bengaluru held Samaagam 2014 – The Annual Alumni meet of the college on the 23rd August 2014 (Saturday). Unchecked and unconstrained, two words that bring out the essence of college like no other. A time when people let go of their inhibitions and rise out of their shells to blossom into entities that define them for the rest of their lives. It's a journey that holds on to us, a journey that breaks us and builds us in equal measures, a journey that shall forever provide us with solace in times of despair and desolation. Samaagam 2014 saw participation from Alumni over the past 5 batches who poured into their Alma Mater, to take a walk down  memory lane and plunge into a fleeting sense of recollection.
Armed with a theme ‘Many Paths, One Spirit! Samaagam 2014 rang a tune that took us back to a world of distant dreams and long forgotten fantasies. SIBM Bengaluru was decked with a tint of remembrance, shaded with memories so sweet and pure, memories that never let go. The campus was colored with the essence of the event as it stood adorned in a hue of reminiscence. As the guests started coming in SIBM traveled through time into yester years.

The Events commenced with the “Lighting of the lamp” by the Deputy Director Dr.V.V Ajith Kumar, and Prof. Atish R Das Gupta, Prof. Semila Fernandes Faculty Mentor of Alumni Committee, Mr. Shrikaant Iyer President of SIBM Bengaluru, Mr. Santhosh S Vice-President of the college and Mr. Manav Massand, coordinator of the Alumni Committee which organised the event. With the declaration of the event opening by Prof. Semila Fernandes, SIBM Bengaluru erupted with frenzy, and so commenced the grandeur.

Talent is matchless in any form and Jhankaar, the Dance club of SIBM- Bengaluru is an initiative to bring out the dancing flair among students by performing in various events under the prestige mentorship of Prof. Aarti Mehta Sharma. On the audacious occasion of Samaagam, this dance club enthralled the audience with a series of performances ranging from the welcoming dance in the classical Indian form Bharat Natyam followed by a musical mix depicting the daily routine of the college students.
The day was lightened by a fusion performance and finally dazzling the atmosphere with the Punjabi folk bhangra enriching the Indian culture. Overall, was a mesmerizing day with some eye catching dance forms.
An interactive session between the students of the by-gone days and the current crop also brought together emotions of different eras.

"The grass was greener, the light was brighter, with friends surrounded, the nights of wonder." The lyrics of Pink Floyd echoed across the horizon as the event was brought to a close.

Prof. Semila Fernandes,Faculty Mentor of Alumni Committee, SIBM Bengaluru said, “It was wonderful to see the students from the previous batches. It made me relive the moments of the past”

Mr. Manav Massand, Co-ordinator of Alumni Committee said, "The Event was a success and I was delighted to see our seniors who could make it for Samaagam 2014 in spite of their busy schedule.”
